Song lyrics are a mixed bag. Sometimes all you get are rather banal words which mean anything or nothing and only the music can redeem them. On the other hand, lyrics can be as passionate, as beautiful and as literate as the finest poetry. I have gathered together some of what I think are the best song lyrics and I decided to share them with you. Of course, to get the fullest effect, you should listen to them being sung, but these lyrics will stand alone as poetry. I hope you enjoy them. Some of these lyrics have come from the lyric booklets thoughtfully provided by the artistes with the albums, the rest have been figured out as I listened to them. So apologies in advance for any mistakes I may have made!
