Alan Parsons Project

I first heard the Alan Parsons Project in the 1970's, while I was living in New Zealand. I can't remember the exact circumstances, but I think that my younger sister borrowed a cassette tape from a friend of hers and that tape was "I, Robot". My sister and I were both science fiction fans, which is why we were attracted to a band that had made an album based on Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" stories. And that got me hooked!

Alan Parsons Project are (or were) loosely based around four permanant band members: Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson, Andrew Powell and Ian Bairnson. Other singers and musicians have come and gone and been replaced over the years but the basic style has not changed. I can honestly say that they are as good in their later works as they were in the earlier. Though there are rather a lot of compilation albums now.
